Replica Da Vinci IW376019: What the Reference Is
The IW376019 is an IWC Da Vinci reference from Schaffhausen. The Da Vinci chronograph generation sold from 2007 to 2010 used a round case, an automatic chronograph movement, and a leather strap. IWC lists each reference with its own diameter, caliber, and water resistance. For IW376019, the IWC catalog page is the authority. The number matches one configuration, and resale listings mix it with nearby Da Vinci references.
Reference data to confirm
- Case diameter and thickness in millimeters, as stated by IWC.
- Movement caliber and power reserve in hours.
- Case material. IWC made Da Vinci cases in steel and in gold.
- Crystal type. Sapphire with coating on the inner face on the original.
- Water resistance, given in bar and in meters.
- Dial layout. Subdial positions and date window placement.
Those six items come from IWC sheets and from reference databases that copy them. Figures I cannot verify for this reference are left out.
How Replica Versions Differ
A replica IW376019 copies the outside of the watch. The parts you cannot see differ.
- Movement. The original runs an IWC chronograph caliber. Replicas run Chinese or Swiss-clone chronographs, most on the Valjoux 7750 layout or on a Seagull ST19 hand-wind base.
- Subdial spacing. A 7750 base puts the counters at 12, 6, and 9 o'clock. If the original dial places counters elsewhere, a replica dial cannot match without a different movement.
- Case alloy. Replicas use 316L steel in most cases. Plated versions weigh less than solid gold and lose plating at the lugs and the caseback edge.
- Crystal. Some replicas ship with mineral glass. Others use sapphire. Coating color and reflectivity differ from the original.
- Finishing. Bezel brushing, lug chamfers, and polished flanks show tool marks on lower grades.
- Engraving. Caseback text, reference number, and serial depth are shallow on replicas, and letter shapes drift from the IWC typeface.
- Strap and clasp. Leather grade, stitch count, and clasp engraving are the common tells.
Checks Before You Compare
- Ask the seller for the movement caliber number and a photo of the caseback inside.
- Run the chronograph: start, stop, reset. A sticky reset points to a low-grade module.
- Watch the date change at midnight. A slow or partial flip points to a cheap date wheel.
- Weigh the watch. Solid gold Da Vinci cases run heavier than plated copies of the same size.
- Compare subdial positions against an IWC photo of the same reference, not against another replica listing.
Legal Status in the United States
A counterfeit watch carries a counterfeit trademark. Import into the United States is barred under 19 U.S.C. 1526, and CBP can seize shipments. Sale of counterfeit goods can bring civil damages from the trademark holder and criminal charges under 18 U.S.C. 2320. Reselling a replica as an original is fraud in every U.S. state. Service is a second problem. IWC does not service replicas or supply parts for them, and independent watchmakers may refuse the work.
